What to do if you are injured in the workplace
Injuries happen when you least expect them and in the workplace there can be more hazards than at home.
So, it’s important that you get proper medical attention following an accident. This includes working with your employee to meet their health and safety standards.
All NZ employees are entitled to time off to recover from an injury. If you need a medical certificate we can provide you with one.
We’ll also make sure your ACC claim is lodged as a workplace incident.
How to ensure ACC covers your workplace injury
Fortunately, ACC recognises this and have set up a clear process to ensure you get the healthcare you need.
- Tell your employer that you’ve been injured
- This allows them to activate their health and safety and support you while you get urgent care
- An ACC claim will be lodged and a letter will be sent to your employer
- Our healthcare team can supply a letter for your work if you need time off or you require a change in usual duties.
